Miriam is an actress who is also a devoted sign language teacher. She is not deaf herself but most of her friends are.
Her girlfriend, Lola, as well as her parents and numerous friends, are all members of the deaf community. However, her world is shattered when she discovers that she, too, is losing her hearing. Despite every deaf person in her life she refuses to accept a world without sound.
