The true life story of Mariasilvia Spolato, who was a successful mathematics teacher in the early ‘70s. She also was a feminist, and on Women’s Day march in 1972 she publicly declared her homosexuality - the first woman in Italy to do so. This would cost her dearly: she was fired, and ousted by her family.
Undaunted, she co-founded the movement and magazine “Fuori!” - an acronym for the “United Revolutionary Homosexual Front of Italy”. She never wavered from her convictions and activism, even when it brought her poverty and homelessness.
This tribute gives her back the acknowledgment that eluded her during her lifetime.
