Fantasy and facts mingle in Lola Arias’ Reas, which spins a musical drama out of the very real experiences of female and transgender former prisoners. We learn about their dreams, their disappointments, the tough circumstances in Casero, the prison in Buenos Aires where all of them were held. Yet we also hear about the romances, friendships, the football, the vogue competitions that are just as much happening there.
All of this is presented with musical flair, highly stylized and filmed in an abandoned prison. The result is a unique, very creative film that bursts with pure zest for life.
