Roze Filmdagen is looking for a general board member

Roze Filmdagen has been a constant artistic, emancipatory and much-needed factor in the Dutch LGBTQ+ scene since 1996.
The 12-day film festival takes place annually in Het Ketelhuis in Amsterdam. Thanks to top programming, the festival has a good reputation with audiences, filmmakers and festivals all over the world. The film festival tries to highlight as many aspects of the LGBTQ+ spectrum as possible for a wide audience through films, documentaries, short films, exhibitions, online talk shows, an educational program and more.

Do you want to build the largest queer film festival in the Netherlands with us? Roze Filmdagen is looking for a general board member.

Roze Filmdagen has a staff of professionals who organize the festival, a large group of volunteers who help to keep everything running smoothly during the festival, and a board. The board is responsible for achieving the foundation's goal. In order to properly monitor all aspects of the foundation, the board consists of various people, each with their own task; the chair, treasurer, secretary, fundraising board member and a general board member. The board meets once a month together with the artistic director, business manager and the marketing/PR employee.

In our efforts to really be there for all our community members, we pay special attention to how the board is composed. That is why we are looking for new board members who do justice to the diversity of society and our community and want to help us stay sharp in our mission.

The 28th edition of the festival will take place in March 2025. Ideally, you will be available during this edition to join us and get to know the festival. Board members are appointed for a term of four years, which can be extended once, and work without pay.
The foundation board works according to the Code Cultural Governance.

We are looking for the following qualities in all board members:

  • You have an affinity with film and the festival sector and want to contribute to the growth of Roze Filmdagen both nationally and internationally.
  • You are part of or have demonstrable affinity with the LGBTQ+ community.
  • You know how to strike a good balance between involvement and distance; you can supervise the broad implementation of the foundation's mission and policy and can think strategically and practically about these points.
  • You know how to strike a balance between critical opposition and constructive collaboration.
  • You are able to assess policy documents.
  • You feel comfortable representing the festival.
