Roze Filmdagen is looking for an Education employee

Roze Filmdagen has been a constant artistic, emancipatory and much-needed factor in the Dutch LGBTQ+ scene since 1996. The 12-day film festival takes place annually in March in Het Ketelhuis in Amsterdam. Thanks to top programming, the festival has a good reputation with the public, filmmakers and festivals all over the world. Using feature films, documentaries and short films, we highlight as many aspects of the LGBTQ+ spectrum as possible for a wide audience.

Roze Filmdagen considers education in the field of film and LGBTQ+ themes to be very important. With our school performances for secondary education, we reach a young and diverse audience, and we hope that our films can broaden their view of the world. In order to be able to expand and make the number of school performances more sustainable from the next edition onwards, we are therefore looking for an Education Employee/Producer.

What will you do?
You will independently coordinate the education policy of Roze Filmdagen, but in consultation with the artistic director and the programme team (including the selection of films for the school performances). Your work consists of organizing school performances during the festival in March. You establish and maintain contact with schools (VO) and teachers in Greater Amsterdam and possibly beyond, including through your existing network. You organize Q&As with makers and follow-up discussions at the film screenings, for which you also contact and involve third parties, such as the COC. In addition, you contribute - together with the team and the board - to and think about the future anchoring of the education program at Roze Filmdagen.

The position is part-time, within which your work varies. In January and February 2025 you will work 1 to 2 days a week and in March 2025 you will be available at least 4 days a week, certainly during the festival.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least two years of experience in a similar position
  • Has an extensive network in secondary education and in the field of film education in Greater Amsterdam
  • Affinity with film and the LGBTQ+ theme of Roze Filmdagen
  • Has excellent speaking and writing skills in Dutch
  • Is responsible and proactive and can work independently
  • Has organizational skills

What do we offer you:

  • You will work in a small, but enthusiastic and passionate team
  • A unique opportunity to commit yourself to the LGBTQ+ community
  • A beautiful workplace in the Pijp in the heart of Amsterdam
  • A chance to expand your network within the cultural and film sector
  • A (temporary) appointment of up to 3.5 months for the upcoming festival edition (19-30 March 2025), with the possibility of repeating it in the future. A temporary contract with a salary between €3,000 and €3,500 gross based on 36 hours/week or a self-employed agreement (to be agreed upon).

Roze Filmdagen strives to create a safe and pleasant environment for each edition of the festival where our visitors, queer or otherwise, feel at ease. We strive for the same with regard to the working environment, so that you can get the best out of yourself and feel at home. We strive for a team that reflects the diversity of society. We encourage candidates who increase the diversity of our team to apply.
