Based on the real story of Teófilo Alfonso, also known as Panama Al Brown, who became the first Latin American world boxing champion. Set in Paris in 1938, the film shows Brown as he retires after a dubious loss and subsequently shines as a star at the Capricce Viennois, a second-rate cabaret on Rue Pigalle. There, he catches the eye of poet Jean Cocteau, who becomes both his lover and agent.

A deep dive into Brown’s highs and lows, as he reclaims the world title and confronts racism and addiction, demonstrating the power of representation and what it means to be seen and remembered.
